NineLives The Cat. Fresh new fearless animal on the breakbeat chopping block. This innovative funk driven artist/ producer originally hails from Australia but in recent months has been creating quite a pleasant stir amongst the breakbeat community in both London and the world over.

Now residing in North London Tottenham at the Sokolov Sounds HQ's, Ninelives is constantly on the go. Working closely with Vlad Sokolov and mince-step pioneers, West Records (Best New Label Breakspoll 2005), Ninelives has already had a highly successful release on the West imprint being Bouncing Off The Walls with a Tom Real and Rogue Element re-rub on the flip that saw this record receive solid support from all corners off the breaks scene, from Meat Katie to Crystal Method, Aquasky and Super Style Deluxe to name a few. Next on West will be a solid p-funk number named Funkwire with a special remix by upcoming breaks juggernaut Rob Reng. In the pipeline also is a future release that will drop around the beginning of next year on Sokolov Sounds. Sureshock, a little tougher this one, though already has had bang on support from Diverted, Dopamine and Vlad himself. And there will be plenty more tunes to look closely for come 2007, with vocal colabs in the pipeline for Madox, Myagi, and Diverted, remixes and new original material things are looking super swell for NineLives The Cat. Remix and booty wise The Cat has hit a handful of interesting artists and projects, The Deathset and Spank Rock from the States being the most positive and fun.

Shows and gigs have seen NineLives The Cat play and emcee at venues from The Bug Bar to Fabric, Ocean Rooms, The End, Ruby Blue, Neighbourhood and Trafik in the UK and Ireland and also a recent tour of the east coast of America with punk spaz buddies The Deathset saw Baltimore and NYC especially get a sweet shake up to the sound of London breakbeat.

At present NineLives remains living in the UK constantly writing new tunes and is in the process of completing an artist album for Rob Rengs own Ruff Dog Recordings. This venture will see the beginning of in inevitable live act which will include Rob himself and the two Diverted boys. Ninelives also plays drums and emcees for Diverteds live show which has seen him get back into the one thing this man loves the most. simply playing a live musical instrument. Though on the decks, nothing lacks. With a keen eye and smart head for crowd reaction NineLives takes all kinds of twist and turns, then lighting the whole thing up with his own unique brand of scratch and emceeing and effortlessly dicing up styles from hiphop to punk, funk, house, electro and rock but with always that undeniable, completely danceable reality that is breakbeat!!!
