Charles Matthews originally adopted the name Ardisson as a techno/noise project while living in Yokohama, Japan in 1997. Having released a series of limited CDs on his own Ether Wins Purity label he moved to London where he met Vlad Sokolov as a fellow DJ and studio manager at InterFACE. Already growing keen on electro and garage, Vlad introduced him to the breakbeat sound and they resolved to collaborate, sharing a studio for several years.

Ardisson's first vinyl outing took the form of a remix of Breakneck's T-Break on TCR and was followed by a pair of bass heavy leftfield EP's on Seed Records. The first official Vlad & Ardisson release was the roller Split Screen on London Breakz which also appeared on Rennie Pilgrem's Perfecto Breaks compilation. Subsequent projects have been released on Seed, Warp, Vertical Sound and Sokolov. Remix work (with and without Vlad), ranging from weird electro to full on dancefloor vibes, has included Posthuman, ScanOne, Nitro and Smithmonger with many more forthcoming.

Although an album for Seed Records has been in the works for several years now Charles' focus is live performance. His current sets blend generative music with full on acid breaks, the emphasis always on making people move.
